Practical - COMPLETE

The group's focus for the past 3 or so days has been the practical deadline....which was today! I'm so relieved that we managed to get everything looking incredible and finished on time!! But at the same time, I can't believe its all over!! :(
So i decided to compile two lists. One, of all the things that I'm most pleased with, and a second of valuble lessons to take with me in media life :D
My Favourite Parts of Blink Murder (forty4 productions)
- The title! Blink Murder. I have to say, after hours of thinking, we all loved this title, and it really fits with our opening sequence and the whole film! The production name forty4 was chosen because the door number of the house in which we did all our filming was 44, so it had a special meaning for us all.
-Credits! Mia and I decided on these, and were so pleased when the rest of the group loved them. They look really proffessional and work amazingly with the sequence.
-Music and foley! Everybody that has watched the sequence comments on how well these were incorporated. The three music tracks merge seamlessly with one another.
-Our 'suddens'! The montage of random images to do with beauty adds so much suspense and dimension to the sequence.

Valuble lessons/ Irreversible mistakes...
-Lighting proved a major problem durin editing, as our shots didn't match. We realised how important it is to keep lighting consistent throughout. Luckily, throught the magic of Premier editing software, we managed to get this looking pretty good!
-Sound. No body was to blame for this, but the camera generated sounds during shots with low lighting, and it was near impossible to remove all of this from the footage. But again, we did the best we could!
-Continuity was difficult in places because for certain shots, we didn't start filming earlier, meaning we didn't have anything to cut in to. Durin a stairs sequence, this was particularly problematic.

Overall, I'm massively proud of our achievements, and i think forty4 productions has a long way to go!
Now to the challenge of evaluation!! Brainstorms have started on the group blog, and theory lessons commence tomorrow.

reflections on evaluation

Today's media lesson was spent brainstorming the final product evaluation. I've been thinking about it, and I just posted the start up to a discussion for question 1, on the group blog.
My posts from now will be thinking about evaluating techniques and inspiration that we have gathered.
So, look out for opening sequences, brainstorms, breif ideas and discussions are now beginning on the group blog!
:( It is officially the beginning of the end of this project!

Post Real Shoot

Well Hello there!!!
I have just returned from our first REAL shoot!! I thought it was best to blog my thoughts now, while everything is fresh in my head!
Firstly: mise-en-scene = WOW.
I think we arranged everything so convincingly!!
The things that were most successful today were:
- Mise-en-scene...sooo perfect
-Getting each shot arranged perfectly
-Organising sound
-Perfecting the dialogue
-Finalising the costume (which looks great!)
-Getting every shot from this setting! (We met our target! woo hooo)

Things to remember for next time:
- I know its no fault of Mary's, but i would have loved it if she was there the whole way through!!
- Have props wayyy before hand! There was a lot of running around.

Second Test Shoot - Reflections!!

Hello!
I have just returned from our second, much more productive test shoot. I'm really glad we now have the ball rolling - hopefully towards an extremely successful final piece!
As i had previously mentioned, our original location was proving very difficult. So today we tested the new location, which is predominantly indoors.
This made our jobs much easier, and we managed to get work done a lot more swiftly and with less failed attempts!
Tomorrow is our first REAL shoot. I'm so excited yet anxious at the same time. We've now established each shot type, music and other sound effects. Things to remember for tomorrow are to be careful and keep continuity in mind throughout the shoot. Also, i want to make sure we get all the shots of this particular setting done tomorrow, so that we can concentrate on other tasks at later dates.
